The spherical dipole assemblies' sphere board is designed to operate with one(1) or two(2) battery boards, Part Number AET-20028-01. The sphere board provides for a battery board to be installed on the top and bottom of the sphere board, each plugged into the respective mating connectors. The sphere board completes the circuitry to parallel the two (2) battery boards together. The PSDS includes two (2) battery boards, while the USDS includes one (1) battery board (unless an additional battery board is purchased).

Each Battery Board uses five AAA Ni-MH cells to supply 6 VDC, 1000 mAH , for extra long operating time during real-world testing applications, and uses a commercial wall-mount power supply for easy battery recharging.

Spare Battery Boards may be purchased separately. (Product and Price List)

The 6VDC Ni-MH AAA battery board assembly, Part Number AET-20028-01, Revision D, is designed to provide primary DC power to all different sphere board assemblies, including:

  • High Frequency, High Power, Part Number-AET 200434-01
  • Low Frequency, High Power, Part Number-AET 200434-02
  • High Frequency, Low Power, Part Number-AET 200434-03
  • Low Frequency, Low Power, Part Number-AET 200434-04
  • USDS Comb Generator, Part Number AET-20062-01

Any or all of the Ni-MH AAA battery cells may be removed from the battery board assembly to be individually charged, or to be replaced by a new or freshly charged AAA battery cell that has been recharged external to the spherical dipole assembly.

The recommended Ni-MH AAA battery cells used for replacement should be standard AAA size 1.2V, and rated 700mAH up to 1000mAH charge capacity. AET provides all bundled units with spare Ni-MH AAA battery cells. The customer can also purchase appropriately sized Ni-MH AAA battery cells from many suppliers including next-day delivery from Digi-Key. Several Panasonic Ni-MH AAA cells work in the sphere board assemblies. Immediate replacement of battery cells from other reputable manufacturers (Energizer, etc.) can also be purchased (with multiple cell chargers) from various neighborhood distributors such as Radio Shack and Wal-Mart. Or, if longer-operating times are required, higher cost Ultra-high capacity 1000mAH Ni-MH AAA battery cells can be purchased from AccuPower.
